Backyard Beekeeping: Spring Apiary Management

Join Lackawanna College’s Environmental Education Center on February 25, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Backyard Beekeeping is a yearlong program appropriate for honeybee enthusiasts and was designed to support new and seasoned beekeepers through an entire apiary year. This workshop will focus on Springtime Beekeeping, what to do, and what to expect. Topics will include what to look for as your new colonies become established, proactive support of your over-wintered hives, an overview of splits and their creation, why and how honeybees swarm, taking the lead on swarm management, and a review of the apiary calendar. Cost is $80 for the fall/winter series of 4 classes or $25 for individual classes. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
