Roasted Strawberry Shortcakes with Basil Cream

Ingredients:
For the Basil Cream
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 large handful fresh basil leaves, plus more for serving
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
For the Strawberries
- 1 1/2 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced in half
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
For the Biscuits
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- 1 large egg yolk, lightly beaten
- scant 1/2 cup cold buttermilk, plus more for brushing
